Description:
The AI Act is a regulation aimed at creating a comprehensive legal framework for artificial intelligence in the EU. It entered into force on August 2, 2024, with full application proceeding in steps until August 2, 2027.
Among its main purposes is the protection of fundamental rights, including democracy and the rule of law, against the harmful effects of AI while at the same time supporting innovation. In fact, many aspects of the regulation are related to the work done by law enforcement and need to be understood and properly applied both by vendors of technologies used for forensic and investigative activities and by end users.
In this free webinar, Martino Jerian, While some aspects are clearly defined, such as classifying certain activities as prohibited or high-risk, there are still many grey areas that will need to be further understood by those who work in digital forensics.
For some activities, the use of AI will likely be much stricter, and vendors and users will be required to ensure that they are compliant with the regulation, especially regarding the dataset used for training AI-based tools. Finally, we will compare current best practices and other regulations on AI concerning law enforcement use in other countries.
